Welcome to our “3 Things…” August business challenge! This month is all about committing to manageable actions that will help you maintain (or regain) balance in your work and life.
It is a tough time in the world right now with economic issues, political stand-offs, wars, and other situations that might have us feeling like many things in our lives are out of control. It is true that many things we cannot control, but we can still be in charge of our businesses and the rest of our lives by choosing what we will focus on and take action on each day. (Big Fish Principle #1: Give energy to that which you want to grow!)

I chose 3 things specifically because 3 always seems like a manageable number: enough to feel as though we have accomplished enough, but not so much that we are overwhelmed before we even get started!
This week’s challenge is to start a new daily habit of creating a list of 3 Things To Do. I recommend creating this list at the end of each work day, for the 3 things you want to accomplish the next day. This way you can start each day with a clear picture of what you need to focus on!
I have found that this 3 Things To Do list works best for me when I intentionally include 1 work thing, 1 family thing, and 1 me thing. No matter how you decide to categorize your To Dos, be sure there is alignment between your 3 Things To Do each day and your goals and your vision!
Franklin Covey says we need to spend 25% of our time PLANNING, so why not use this 3 Things To Do exercise each day to PLAN your day, your actions, and your attitude? Try it out and let us know how it goes in a comment below!
